Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois (BBBS) is a mentoring organization located in Belleville, IL that serves St. Clair, Madison, Clinton and Monroe Counties. To better meet its mission of providing a mentor to all children who need and want one, BBBS is seeking a $1M major gifts campaign to help expand its capacity, implement a tracking program and build a reserve fund.

According to Kids Count, 12,000 youth, between the ages of 6-14, are at-risk in Southwestern Illinois and could benefit from a one-to-one relationship with a Big Brother or Big Sister. In 2008, BBBS matched 1,008 children with mentors and is working to increase this number.
The challenge with this campaign is that it does not involve a new building, but rather, it is to support intangibles—programs and a reserve fund. Therefore, the dramatic design is purposeful. It is intended to convey the importance of how financial support now helps the entire community in the future. Careful to avoid a volunteer piece, fister worked closely with the client to use statistical information to communicate the need for this campaign.

As a former Big Sister, I know first-hand the amazing impact mentoring can make in a child’s life. It is my hope that this campaign not only meets its goal of $1M, but surpasses it.
